The Otoe-Missouria Senior Citizen Center provides various nutritional, health, wellness, social and cultural activities and services for eligible senior citizens (55 years or older) and eligible caregivers.
Title VI –Part A: Nutrition Services
Our Nutrition Services are catered to senior citizens, fifty five (55) years or older. At the center we offer healthy and diabetic friendly lunches at 12:00 P.M. Monday – Thursday and hearty breakfast on Fridays at 9:00A.M.
Home-Delivered (HD) Meals are also provided daily Monday – Friday to eligible clients. For elders and their caregivers to be eligible for home delivered meals they need to provide the center’s staff with a doctor referral stating that they suffer from medical condition(s) which prevents them from leaving home. HD meal recipients must be home to receive their meals; we can’t leave any meal unless someone is there to receive it. If meals are returned for two consecutive days, the program will hold the meal delivery until the participant call and request the re-delivery of their meals. If you know you will be out, please contact us to cancel your meal for the day by calling (580-723-4466 Ext 195) no later than 9:30 A.M.
The center regularly provides and hosts nutrition education classes and nutrition counseling. If you need a private nutritional consultion regarding a specific diet, medical condition (such as diabetes or weight management) please contact us at (580-723-4466 Ext 289).
The intention of the program is to increase and stimulates the social life of senior citizens by providing educational, cultural, social, recreational, health and wellness activities. Suggestions for activities are welcomed, as long as we have advance note (1 week) to plan for them.
