Home Repairs for Elders
Assistance for tribal elders aged 55 and older with repairs to the member’s primary residence which they occupy and have marketable title related to health and safety issues. To be eligible, you must be an enrolled tribal member, aged 55 years or older. Examples of services provided include:
- Plumbing or drainage repairs,
- Electrical repairs,
- Emergency HVAC maintenance and repairs,
- Addition of wheelchair ramp, and
- Repairs to the home to improve function and accessibility for elders with disabilities.
Amount of Assistance: Up to $5,000
Documentation Required: 1) Copy of filed Warranty Deed in tribal member applicant’s name which has been filed of record longer than six months; 2) Two bids or quotes. Bids/quotes must include the contractor’s or vendor’s TAX ID #, address, and telephone number; 3) W-9 from the vendor/contractor.
Eligibility Time Period: This is a one-time program. All other tribal assistance programs must be expended before an individual is eligible for elder home health and safety program funds.
