The goal of the Otoe-Missouria Health Department Nutrition component is to raise the nutritional status of the Otoe-Missouria Tribe and community members to the highest possible level and to provide opportunities for the member’s maximum involvement in defining and meeting their own health needs.
A Registered Dietitian is on staff to promote and provide quality nutrition services with emphasis on promoting health, preventing disease, and maintain and restoring health. The dietitian provides technical assistance to community programs; such as, WIC, and Head Start. Individual appointments can be made with the dietitian to increase ones knowledge and understanding of any nutritional concerns; such as, diabetes, heart disease, pediatric and child nutrition, and weight loss.
