Chief Eric Payne

Chief Payne joined the OMPD in 1999. He graduated from the Indian Police Academy at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Artesia, NM in 200. In 2005, Chief Payne completed Supervisory Law Enforcement Officer Training at the Indian Police Academy. He has extensive training in rape & sex crime investigations, Homeland Security procedures and FEMA preparations and procedures. He is an Otoe-Missouria Tribal member and a member of Red Rock Creek Gourd Clan.

Officer Jennings Gabriele

Joined the OMPD in 2011. Officer Gabriele previously served as a police officer for the Tonkawa Police Department. Officer Gabriele currently works with the Otoe-Missouria Social Services Department's Shield Lodge program. He is a CLEET certified officer.

Officer Defford Thomas "D.J." Oyebi, Jr.
Otoe-Missouria Police Department
End of watch: December 20, 1998

Officer Oyebi was killed in a two-vehicle accident while he was responding to another accident. His patrol car went out of control on the slick two-lane road 2.3 miles north of State Highway 15 West and went into a slide. The patrol car was struck in the passenger side by a northbound vehicle. Officer Oyebi was pronounced dead at the scene along with a passenger in the other car. The driver of the other car was admitted to the hospital in serious condition.

Officer Oyebi had served with the Otoe-Missouria Tribal Police for 2 years. He was an enrolled member of the Kiowa Tribe and an Otoe-Missouria descendant. Officer Oyebi was survived by his wife, two daughters, son, mother and sister.
